Hi
Hopefully I can help you with this.
From the main Thunderbird screen (where you see your inbox), go to Tools, Options, then the Advanced tab in the box that pops up.
In the top right of the Advanced tab, there is a button labelled Return Receipts.... When you click on it, you will be presented with options to set up a return receipt for that message.
I hope this helps, but of not, please come back here and we can look into a different solution for you.
thanks a lot.
i tried this now but it doesnt seem to work.
it makes sense that woudl be what you do but i wonder if mine is somehow faulty.
Tools > Options > Advanced > General tab click on 'Return Receipts'
If you always want to send out a return receipt request on all emails: Select: 'when sending messages, always request a return receipt' make other selections as required. click on OK.
When you then send an email, a return receipt request will be included.
If you do not want a return receipt on ALL your emails; you want to select when to include one.
do not select the above mentioned option: Uncheck: 'when sending messages, always request a return receipt'
In a new Write message Type email 'Options' > select 'Return Receipt' Send email
Please note: Sending an email with a 'Return Receipt' request does not mean the recipient will actually click on the link and respond with a return receipt. That will be their option and many ignore it.
