What causes me to keep getting the message "the url is not valid and cannot be loaded" quite often, especially on MSN homepage among others?

I get this message quite often. I know the urls are valid because I visit the websites everyday. People have told me that maybe Firefox just doesn't support those websites very well and to try a different browser. It's driving me crazy. Any ideas?

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

See:

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

  • Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
  • Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Starting in safe more didn't cure the problem. When I clicked on the article, a screen came up saying Oops! Firefox could not find bing.com. I just checked if it would work on ie and I get the same basic message. I guess it's not Firefox, huh!? Oh well, thanks for trying.
