Is there anywhere legitimate to get an older version of Firefox for Android? Any plans for a legacy app?
Firefox is my main browser across systems. I rely heavily on it and use a lot of extensions to help with productivity.
I forgot to turn of auto-updates for Firefox (didn't think I'd have to) and now have the latest version. I don't hate it but it really bothers me that there is almost no support for add-ons. Even the add-ons in 'recommended' for mobile that are supposed to be compatible aren't. The only compatible add-on of all that I was using was an ad blocker. I went through pages of similar add-ons to the different ones I use and none of them, even very simple script blockers, were supported. I couldn't find a correct list of compatible mobile add-ons either.
I really want to be able to use my extensions. I'm concerned about how long it may take them to be supported or if they ever will be. Is there anywhere legitimate to get the previous version? Will Mozilla ever consider releasing a legacy version? Is there a correct list of compatible add-ons for mobile?
Add-ons on mobile are one of the main reasons I switched completely to FF but now the mobile app is pretty much a typical app, almost all my extensions had finally gotten supported and now almost none are.

The list of add-ons currently available in Firefox for Android dies include the uBlock content blocker, with support for more add-ons due in future updates.
Yes, uBlock is supported but it is unfortunately the only one out of many addons I have that is supported.
If you go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/android/ where I would expect only supported addons to appear, not a single recommended addon is compatible.
If you then follow the hyperlinks at the top of the page ("To learn about add-ons compatible with Firefox for Android, click here") which eventually links to "recommended Extensions program" at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?recommended=true&type=extension none of those work either. Even though I have uBlock installed and its recommended when I open the extension page I still get the prompt "Not available on Firefox for Android..."
I cannot find a list anywhere of apps that are supported on Firefox 80.
How will support be added for addons in the future? Is this done by individual popular apps as the blogs and articles suggest? Or will there be more widespread approval? What kind of timeline?
Don't get me wrong I like GeckoView and I do like most of the recent update but addons were a defining feature of Firefox for mobile. I completely understand all this takes time but the set of circumstance (especially the lack of an official list of supported apps) makes it more frustrating. I wish this would have been an optional update or stayed in Nightly until more comprehensive addon support was implemented.

When you tap
menu > Add-ons
The available extensions should be listed under "Recommended".
This list is a bit longer in "Firefox Nightly," the alpha release available separately on the Play store. The team is still working out how to expand the Recommended list and whether/when to open the floodgates to non-Recommended extensions. There's a lot of pressure to make progress on this in the next few months.
