While pages are loading, the site will automatically redirect to another page. This is usually to a yahoo search of whatever the original page was with a few additional keywords, but sometimes it will just take me to another site entirely. This has happened across two updates to Firefox. Please don't tell me what to "try" just tell me what is causing it. This is happening to many users (just search "firefox redirect" and look at all the threads) so there must be a common cause. Please tell me what it is. I will repeat one more time just to further infuriate me when you ignore it; please tell me the cause of this problem, not what to try to fix it. I am asking for the cause of this redirect problem.

You can check if you can start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the Shift/Options key.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

What you describe sounds like ad-ware.
