I use Firefox 3.6.19 on a Mac with OS 10.5.8 I get a reminder from Mozilla to update to Firefox 5 but the downloadbutton brings me to a page with a lot of information but no download or update option. So how do I do this?

Sorry, Firefox 4 & 5 aren't compatible with PPC Mac's.

For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4.0 & 5.0, try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 .

Or stick with Firefox 3.6.19.

thanks, I'll stick to 3.6.19, but I feel a little discriminated while my PPC G5 Mac is not due to be replaced because it does it's work nicely.

Many of us with older computers have been affected at one time of another. I have an old Windows98 PC that I have to use Firefox 2.0.0.20 on because Mozilla dropped support for Win98 a few years ago; can't "sell" my 80-something mother on switching to a newer version of Windows or Linux, so I just keep fixing what goes wrong with the one she has been using for the past 11 years. Last summer I had to upgrade the operating system on another PC because the Firefox beta version at that time quit working one day; the problem was eventually fixed a few weeks later, but "the hand writing was on the wall" for me, so I dealt with it.

At least Mozilla makes it so that a 3rd party, such as the group that does the TenFourFox for PowerPC's version, can create their own specialized version of Firefox to provide support for older computers like the Power PC's. That is the real beauty of Mozilla and open source software.
