bookmarks toolbar not working

I have a problem with the Bookmarks Toolbar. It is shown but is is empty but if click bookmarks, show all bookmarks and the click on the folder called bookmarks toolbar in the new window that appears I see the list of bookmarks. It just does not display this list on the bookmark toolbar below the address bar and I dont know why!
