Anyone experiencing extreme slowness in loading new messages?

Within the last 2 weeks, the incoming messages are extremely slow to load, really too slow to wait for, yet if I go in via BT email, they are instantly downloaded from the server. I haven't changed anything recently - is anyone else having the problem or know of a fix?

Please start *Windows'* safe mode with networking enabled - win10 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/change-startup-settings-in-windows-10 - win8 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-safe-mode


Still In Windows safe mode, start thunderbird in safe mode - http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/safe-mode
