The search engine DuckDuckGo appears as my primary search engine every time I start Firefox even though I delete it from my search engines every time, WHY?

I have tried many times to get rid of DuckDuckGo. I use the search engine tool to delete it and every time I restart Firefox it appears as my primary search engine again. I have run Norton 360 antivirus after deleting DuckDuckGo and it does not find any problems so I do not know what to do next. How can I permanently remove DuckDuckGo from Firefox?
