How can I stop pop-ups for malware/antivirus software websites that create problems on my computer since my last Firefox update?
I've been getting pop-up windows from anti-malware and registry cleaner software websites, selling their product. After these pop-ups, I begin having problems with my computer. Some of the problems I've had are: "lost" my optical drive (fixed since then), my Optimize 3 program will no longer work, IE cannot connect to the internet. I've done a Restore and other fixes. It works for a while until another pop-up appears.

Do a thorough scan for malware.
Install, update and run these programs in this order. They are all free for personal use, but some have limited functionality in the "free mode", but those are features you really don't need to find and remove the problem that you have. (Not all programs detect the same Malware.)

How can I stop pop-ups when I'm using Firefox? I have received pop-ups from a couple of websites since my latest Firefox update. After getting the pop-ups, I began having many problems with my computer, from "losing" my optical drive to being unable to do Windows Update.
The 2 pop-up websites were selling Registry Cleaner and AntivirPro. I blocked those websites in Firefox Security but I still got them. Unbeknownst to me, AntivirPro even installed a demo on my computer that had no uninstall feature and did not show up in the Add/Remove List of programs on my computer. I had to do a Restore to get rid of it. I couldn't delete it because it didn't show up on the programs list. Their website is AntivirSolutions.com.
