I installed this version of Firefox from the repository and I can no longer play back video. I have done a number of things to try to get the video playback to work again, however the bug persists. What I've done:

  • Reset Firefox
  • Disabled Hardware Acceleration
  • Disabled Any and ALL Plug-Ins
  • Uninstalled and Re-Installed the Browser
  • Switched between kernels
  • Ensured that Pipewire is functioning properly
  • Ensured that my hardware is functioning properly

I've done some other smaller things in my system to try to get this back, but as it appears, this bug still persists even after a delay in dropping the new version.

What OS? What Desktop? X11 or Wayland? Try downloading Firefox from Mozilla, run firefox-bin from the folder and see if you have the same issue. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release

I have no video playback issues. see screenshot https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7vFHT9HARY

Make sure you have current ffmpeg and libav files. I'm on a rolling release, but you get the picture. see screenshot

OS: Arch Linux Kernel: 6.0.0-270-tkg-bore DE: Gnome 42 (neofetch reports version 42.5; settings reports version 42.4) WM: Mutter WS: Wayland CPU: Ryzen 7 5700G RAM: 32GB DDR4-3000 GPU: XFX Radeon RX 6700XT

After doing a bit more work (because I've been trying to fix this for the past..... 10 hours straight), installing ESR seems to fix the issue, but I don't really want to be on ESR, but it just seems like it's not picking up my audio output devices properly. I have to manually set it for the browser to use it. Games work just fine, excluding osu!, which has the same issue.

Did you try Firefox from Mozilla or in X11?

Same issue on X11 with the tarball from Mozilla.

Can you provide links to videos that are not working for you? Also, post a screenshot showing what you get when trying to play a video. How about the versions of ffmpeg and libav? see screenshot I'm on a rolling release so our versions may be different.
