Hi, I've just read an answer to this question that goes back to 2015.

You'd think it's easy to delete a program that you've just dowloaded but no. Not in the list. I followed the solution above and nothing refers to my version - 102.1.2. I do have the symbol that should be a toggle but it does nothing except create a column space. My "unthread" is ticked.

What now? I just want rid of it!!

Thanks.

Ann

Not sure if I understand, or can help. 102 defaults to threaded view, unlike prior versions. Clicking View>sort by>unthreaded fixes that, but your post indicates you've done that.

Don't know how to explain further but "Thunderbird Conversations" (the program) does not appear in my list of Add or Remove Programs. so how do I remove it? I think I found a way to disable it but I hate clutter and would rather it was deleted.

The 102 refers to my version of TB (102.1.2) and yes, the tick was always by "unthreaded".

I was trying to find a way to insert comments when replying to emails but this is too complicated.

What makes you think you have that addon installed? I see nothing in this thread that would lead you to think it was, other than you keep asking how to remove it

Hi Matt, I'm not into the technical words. If you search for Thunderbird Conversation, you can see what it is, whether an add-on, extension or otherwise. I don't know. I understood that it was a program therefore it should be in my Add/Remove Programs list and it isn't.

It has changed the look of my emails and I've said, I've managed to disable it but this doesn't get rid of it.

We know about 'Thunderbird Conversation' as an addon.

You say : 'You'd think it's easy to delete a program that you've just dowloaded but no. Not in the list.'

You say downloaded - you do not say installed.

How did you download it ? Did you go to the following link and click on 'Download Now' button ? https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-us/thunderbird/addon/gmail-conversation-view/

If yes, that means the file got downloaded to computer - not Thunderbird. It means it could be in your computer 'Downloads' folder as a .xpi file. If you did not locate that file and click on it to start the install, then you never installed it.

OR did you use this method: In Thunderbird Menu icon > Addon and Themes Select 'Extensions' In top search type : Thunderbird conversations' then click on the magnifying glass icon The result opens in a new tab in Thunderbird showing various search results. It does not open in your browser unlike the previous method I mentioned which does open in a browser. It is likely to have Thunderbird Conversations at the top. So then you would click on 'Add to Thunderbird' button This method directly adds and installs into Thunderbird.

So as you can see, it really depends upon the method you used.

'Add/Remove Programs' list is not talking about Thunderbird - that is your computer. It is the method used to search for and remove programs you have installed on your computer such as 'Mozilla Thunderbird'.

'Thunderbird Conversation', is a Thunderbird add-on, extension for the Thunderbird program. It is not a separate independent program like 'Mozilla Thunderbird' or 'OpenOffice'.

Either you downloaded the 'thunderbird_conversations-4.0.22-tb.xpi' file into the default location reserved for files you download eg: 'Downloads' folder on computer and it was either clicked on to install OR never installed OR you used the second easier method and it is installed. In which case, if you want to remove it, you go to this location in Thunderbird: Menu icon > Addon and Themes Select 'Extensions' Locate the 'Thunderbird Conversations' addon and click on the 3 dot icon on the right and click on 'Remove' Then once removed - exit and restart Thunderbird.

Hi Toad-Hall,

I/m swearing because my response to you has just disappeared...........

I did download the program TB Conversations just a couple of days ago and it must have installed as the "home" page of TB was different with a different format. I didn't like it and wanted to removed it straight away. I checked the "thread" and "unthread" and left it unchanged i.e. "unthread".

I'm pretty certain that I went into the Add-ons as I was looking for an emoticons program - which someone else on here is looking at for me - then found this as I wanted to be able to respond to emails, line by line.

I have done as you suggested i.e. Menu icon > Addon and Themes Select 'Extensions' Locate the 'Thunderbird Conversations' addon

But I don't have the 3 dots (indicating it hasn't been installed?)

BUT there is a green box to right which says "Add to TB" which indicates that it isn't installed in which case, why has the format of my home page changed?
