Hello! I cannot find it in the program settings: so that a confirmation window appears when deleting a letter .... I have already deleted the wrong letter by mistake several times.

TB only shows a confirmation window on Shift+Delete, i.e. when deleting and bypassing Trash. If you delete by mistake, look in the Trash folder, or Edit/Undo (Ctrl+Z).
To have a confirmation prompt for Delete:

Unfortunately does not work in 78.0.1
Just checked the link: ConfirmBeforeDelete 1.5.3 claims to be working in version 78*
It has recently had several updates.

Did you restart Thunderbird at the prompt?

couldn't it be done in the program? before it was in the program settings. Why should I install add-ons that run the risk of stopping working with each program update.
Installing the add-on TEMPORARILY solved the problem. Thanks! temporarily - because it is unknown if this add-on will work after the next update Thunderbird.
