I have used Firefox for many years but tonight it is severely letting me down. After restarting my machine a favourite program no longer was visible, Readability, which I rely upon. When I attempted to download it several times Firefox kept refusing to reload it even though I have used it for many years with Firefox, saying there was some kind of a conflict between it and the company. When I attempted to seek help from this Forum, it started asking me for login information which it then repeatedly rejected. So I have created an entirely new login and hope that this one works. At the moment I'm extremely frustrated and contemplating leaving Firefox altogether, which would be a real nuisance as I have many bookmarks etc. It is all set up and I don't want to leave it but will be forced to do so if someone cannot resolve these issues. What has gone wrong with Firefox?

I am making an assumption that you are referring to the Readability extension for Firefox which is from the Readability website. If that is wrong let us know exactly which extension that you use for that service. https://readability.com/apps The Firefox extension from that page was last updated in Oct 2012 - it isn't "signed".

That isn't a problem between company's. It's a problem with that extension not meeting a new requirement for add-on signing in Firefox 43 and later versions.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/add-on-signing-in-firefox

This section of that KB article contains information about how you can make it work in Firefox 43. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/add-on-signing-in-firefox#w_what-can-i-do-if-firefox-disables-an-installed-unsigned-add-on

I highly encourage you to get a hold of Readability support and inform them of your experience. They need to get that add-on signed by Mozilla because that 'fix' pref won't be in Firefox 44, which is slated for release on Jan 26, 2016.

Edited: with additional information.
