I have been getting a "Untrusted Connection" error on Firefox randomly for the past 4 weeks, what could be causing it?

For the past about 4 weeks I've have been randomly getting an untrusted connection error whenever i try to search something on google.com or using the google search bar. It will happen for about 5-10 mins then will go away. This will happen across 3 different computers (both mac and pc) and will also happen on Chrome, sometimes at the same time sometimes different times. I've searched around and tried pretty much everything i can think of. The date/time is correct on all computers, cache has been cleared, everythings up to date, contacted the ISP and the router companies and they say its not them so i'm at a complete loss.

Any advice or help would be much appreciated!

Did you check the issuer of the certificate and other details?

You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.

  • Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"

Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".

  • Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer of the certificate.

You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.

If "I Understand the Risks" is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".

  • Note that it is not recommended to add a permanent exception in cases like this, so only use it to inspect the certificate.

The "I Understand the Risks" is there and i have tried that but i get a server is unavailable error (if i remember right what it said). My connection is fine, i can go to other sites just not google related ones. Here is a screenshot i took of one of the instances that it happened. When i check under Technical Details, the "The certificate is only valid for www.apple.com", there is always a different website and sometimes a list.

Sorry for the delayed response. I think i may have found a solution to it. I changed my DNS server to Google's and haven't had the issue since.

If the problem happens again i will check the issuer and post here.
