On every exit Firefox (Desktop 12.0 on Vista 32-Bit, Javascript active, cookie/temporary data is only stored until its closes, chronic is disabled, graphics hardware accelaration disabeld) creates a lot of plugin-container.exe processes. In the windows task manager every of them has a different command line that was passed to the process. It corresponds to the plugins that are available on my pc - not only the one I've activated in Firefox. The only plugin that is currently enabled in my Firefox is Flash. But still all other plugins are opened/checked. That is somehow confusing, because I really don't need any of them in Firefox and I really don't want Firefox to open them. It seems (to me) to be something like a plugin check (check for newest version etc.) The plugins/add-on that are on my pc (and detected) but NOT used in Firefox are Acrobat Reader, DivX WebPlayer and VOD Helper Plugin, Google update, Java Runtime and Deployment Kit, NVidia 3D Vision and Quicktime. One thing is that I think its an security issue if Firefox really starts the applications. Another thing is I don't want to wait until all processes are done. It takes sometimes up to 10 seconds (in energy saving mode, something like 2GHz). So is this a bug/hack/virus on my pc/version of firefox? Or is possible the disable this function?

That happens if you use Clear Recent History to clear the cookies when you exit Firefox.
Firefox wants to clear the cookies (session data) from plugins as well and opens a plugin-container for each plugin.
You can let all cookies expire when you close Firefox instead.

Hmm. So I would not wait, ok. But why is it connecting with programs that I don't want to use? All this update crap und divx stuff and bla. I usually don't use this programs at all. How are they detected? Is there a list or something or an entry in the settings? If its really opening the plugins or in other words executing code than that is a huge security issue.
