Why have ad windows, identified as being generated by Firefox, become so frequent and intrusive?

Specifically: Ad windows (saying they are generated by Firefox) have increased to the point of being way too intrusive. They have started to become unbearingly annoying for about a month, give or take a week... or so. (obviously I have no idea how long but they have become really frequent and intrusive "lately.") Example is the TV Guide page. Say it's up and running and I go over and change the time/day schedule. When I click on "Go" I won't get the schedule, the Firefox ad window is the only page that opens. When this happens frequently on this and other pages, it has become intrusive and annoying and could possibly lead to checking out other browsers.

I understand you guys and ladies are all volunteers and donate your considerable talents for the right reasons. This will always make me hesitant to change browsers. Thank you for your efforts. (but is there a way you can make the ads less in-your-face? )

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

Thank you so much for your reply. I will contact my anti-virus software maker. I'm really well protected with the full recipe of AVG products protecting my firewall, but wouldn't rule out computer terrorism. The bad guys are always good.

I will make sure my protection against malware/spyware is doing its job. If this solves my problem I will be very grateful. I'll let you know. Thank you for your assistance.

All best wishes to you for the new year. candy
