The "Search for text when you start typing" option causes issues for me on a lot of sites. I turn it off in settings but when I restart the browser, it resets to enabled. How do I make it save this setting.

It's unlikely that you have a policy but you could check about:policies. You might also check whether you have an autoconfig file. The third article linked below may help.
