Google maps: building outlines not appearing

FF 48.0 is behaving strangely with google maps and I cannot figure out why. The behavior is this: When I zoom in on an area (map view), building outlines do not appear. This is a new behavior that I had not seen previously.

When I run in safe-mode, buildings appear as expected. However, when I disable all of the add-ons in my account, the buildings still do not appear. I tried flushing the cache and offline website data, but that did not help. (Clearing the other categories is not really an option - too much valuable information contained therein.)

Google maps works properly with IE, thus the issue seems to be localized to this one FF profile.

Is it possible that there is a difference in about:config between normal mode and safe-mode and that is causing the issue? If so, how can I track down this difference? What else should I look into?

Just tried another experiment: I refreshed a map and the buildings appeared, whoever, after a second or two, they simply disappeared. I then enabled Firebug and refreshed the page. The Console->Errors window showed two items: 23:53:56.415 CSI/tbsd_ 23:53:56.416 CSI/_tbnd

When I looked at the Net->All tab, the various images that were downloaded do show the building outlines.

I look forward to reading your suggestions.

No problem with Google Maps imagery here with Firefox 48 on Win7 32-bit. 3D Satellite View works fine, too.

Firefox SafeMode disables Hardware Acceleration, along with a few other things beyond disabling extensions. So yes, there are more than just a few differences between "normal" mode and SafeMode.

Check for updates for your AMD Radeon HD 5700 Series Graphics drivers.

the-edmeister: Thank you for replying. Good suggestion, but did not resolve the issue. FYI: Satellite view works fine.
