After having signed up for pocket and signed in ( tried log in too), pocket keeps on sending me in this vicious sign in/log in circle when I'm trying to go through the steps of "pocketing" my first item (oh, I SO do hate small pockets). <<< See included screendump. Also each and every time I've closed Firefox, the pocket icon/button is gone and found back under the hamburger (the 3-bars) > customize when I start up Firefox again. Promised myself not to say wtf, so I won't - Its ANNOYING!

Anyone got any Idea what to do?

Thanks in advance
         B.R.

Just a guess. Are you allowing 3rd party cookies?

If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:

There is software like Advanced SystemCare with its Surfing Protection feature that can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

Thanks guys for the replies!

the-edmeister: Yes, at the moment (during the whole day that is) I am... I include a screendump of my current privacy settings.

cor-el: I do use Advanced SystemCare, but I've (today, after the 38.0.5 update) also re-arranged the "home", "forget" "bookmark this (star)" and "bookmarks" icons/buttons which "stick" in their new order. I will however read the kb and check the ASC settings.... and tomorrow (today rather) look at this minor issue with clear head and fresh eyes....

Hi the-edmeister and cor-el.

Problem semi-solved (the icon/button is now in place, but I haven't actually tried to pocket my first item yet) I had to do a fresh installation of 38.0.5, I actually noticed that when I swapped the excisting icons/buttons around and shutdown/restarted they were back in their old positions, so I guess prefs.js got screwed up somehow during the earlier update. However this caused a set of other problems, which I might be back about after consulting the kb.

Anyways, thanks again for the (earlier) replies!

Update! Nope, didn't work - I'm still sent in that effing log in/sign in circle when trying to pocket my first item (the "demo" I guess). And I've tried both "private" and "non-private" (?) browsing and all three cookie settings. I guess I have to go about "pocketing" the ol' fashioned way................ ("Save Page As")

You can create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Thanks cor-el!

I will download the pages and read 'em later, right now I can't afford fiddling around when Firefox works (with minor hick-ups).

Thanks again.

cor-el,

I've decided to do a FEBE backup of some of my profile and then uninstall Firefox, "wipe" the hard drive of all (I hope) Firefox traces I can find (yes, I will keep a copy of the current profile on a USB-stick, just in case) and then do a "fresh" install of Firefox 38.0.5 to see if that will be the "cure" for getting Pocket to work and some other glitches I am experiencing to disappear.

I thank you for all the effort and help.
       Bobby

P.S. If you're in the position to delete or at least stop this question from "poping up" under "Attenion needed" in the forum and stealing attention from more pressing matters, I would appreciate it. D.S.
