Many sites, mostly utilities are somehow deleting my username and or password from the built in list and I want to block them from doing this.

It is impossible to remember all this info with the restrictions these moronic sites put on usernames now.

I do not want to use an external password manager.

Hueristic,

Why don't you update to Firefox 34 and see if that doesn't happen any more?

finitarry said, "Some bank sites do not allow security information to be saved." That was "fixed" in either Firefox 32 or 33 - now the "don't save" command on webpages shouldn't have any effect - Firefox should save the username and password regardless of what the programmers of the websites want to happen (or not happen).

Copy the information to a text file in the meantime if you do not find a solution. That way, at least you can look it up.

Websites do not have the ability for deleting passwords that are saved in Firefox - period.

As far as "utilities" - security programs and/or "cleanup" programs that you installed on your PC can do what you allow them to do. You need to learn how to use programs like that so that they aren't deleting your Firefox data or restricting what is saved in Firefox. General "rule of thumb" is to disable any preferences that are related to "Firefox" to keep that from happening.

As an example, CCleaner has caused a lot of grief for Firefox users over the years. The "as installed" defaults aren't what the "average user" wants cleaned up - too much is removed, per the support postings I have seen here over the last 8 years.

Passwords are staying there but empty username fields. it is on my banking site and utilities sites but not any other sites. I was not sure if pass was being deleted or not but username's For sure and it is not ccleaner. If it was then all would be deleted not select few. Also they do not resave either.

I wasn't sure of the passwords that is why I wrote and/or.

Some bank sites do not allow security information to be saved. They do not delete information, they make sure that it is not stored.

that is true but there are sites that used to fill in username and password and now they only fill in password. I can look them up in options and the site url is there and the password but the username has been deleted.

Thank you, I am on 32. I couldn't deal with having to change all my settings back on every damn update.
