I recently did something that changed my Firefox to a Yahoo centric version. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but when I reinstalled it is still Yahoo.

Over the summer I tried to download some free photo colorization program and I think in doing so, I accidentally agreed to make Yahoo my default browser. My Mozilla Firefox default opens to Yahoo and has other Yahoo features. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox but it still defaults to Yahoo and I have noticed I get more popups after this Yahoo connection. I have just today gone and redone my popup settings and will try and change my default screen but I would like to have my old original Firefox back without any Yahoo. For example my Tool bar says File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Yahoo! Tools, Help. I really would just like to get rid of the Yahoo intrusion. On the Troubleshooting page I notice my configuration Extensions includes Yahoo! Toolbar and RivalGaming, which began to be the purveyor of many pop ups or independent screens opening when I click on particular articles or items i want to view. I would like to get rid of both.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

You can uninstall the Yahoo toolbar.

You can reset the home page and some other settings to the default with the SearchReset extension:

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the Firefox > Add-ons (about:addons) page.

Yes, I actually did this and it got rid of the Extensions (Yahoo and Rival Gaming). Thank you very much for your thoughtful and helpful reply.
