I upgraded to Firefox 15. Since then i get this error - TypeError: can't access dead object

I am unable to use Firefox anymore as when I open it, this message appears and I can't use the browser. Closing the dialog box or clicking ok only causes it to immediately reopen.

Is there a fix for this or can I revert back to the previous version of Firefox and if so, how and where?

I found if I disabled the drag / drop / upload extension that the issue went away -- though I had to disable it twice and restart twice for whatever reasons ... but now the issue is gone.

I did have to position my cursor over the left-top Firefox menu and then click Enter a few times to get the extensions / add-ons area open ... and then I had to do similar maneuvering when the area was open.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I have no idea what drag and drop is. If it is a plugin, I don't have it. I just tried upgrading to firefox 16 and once i did, I immediately got the same problem.

IE 9 is starting to look good all of a sudden since it seems this issue continues as firefox keeps giving out updates.

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Nope, didn't work.

Plus I need certain extensions to work otherwise Firefox isn't worth using. It seems to happen whenever I go to Google search.

I notice Firefox is up to 17 now and i am stuck on 14. I guess I will just have to switch over to Chrome.
