Firefox is too slow. How can I STOP it from trying to remember everything so it can try to reopen the last page I was on when it crashes?

I think Firefox tries to do too much and it causes it to be slower than dial-up to open, to open pages, just to do everything. It used to be fast and that's why I switched to it, but I am seriously contemplating going back to IE or to Google Chrome. I just like using the Zynga game bar, so I' ve stuck with firefox so far, but I'm really rethinking this. If I wanted dial-up service, I'd be saving a lot more money on my ISP. Please tell me how to speed things up. I am a tech and I keep everything updated, I keep my flash cache emptied and my browser cache cleaned several times while playing games on facebook. None of this seems to help. Even when I first come on the PC and try opening firefox, it is slower than molasses in January for pete's sake. I have a fast PC, but your browser is SLOW! Lots of crashes, too, no matter what I do to keep it moving along.

A possible cause is security software (firewall, anti-virus software) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
