Hi!

I have, since I started using 64 bit Windows more than a year ago, experienced a problem downloading large files from amd.com, adobe.com and every other site I can think of.

I thought it had to do with my installation and/or network environment at home but recently I had a new laptop delivered at work using 64 bit Win7 as well and apart from Win7 64 bit and Firefox it has no similarities at all from a technical point of view ... BUT it has the same problem generating corrupt downloaded files.

Now I've pin pointed the problem ...

I have used the full 64 bit Win7 driver for HD6870 graphics adapter as test file, and downloaded it to different locations on local disc as well as network shares on Windows based servers.

64 bit Win7 driver for HD6870

Download to root at C:, file ok, file size: 87 636 KB

Download to C:\Temp, file ok, file size: 87 636 KB

Download to root of Windows file share (H:), file ok, file size: 87 636 KB

Download to any sub folder on Windows file share, file corrupt, file size: 87 572 KB

The behavior is identical both at my work as well as in my home network.

Any suggestion or advice?

Kindly,

Anders

... and as additional information, I can copy a correctly downloaded file from any location to any sub folder on any network share and the file is ok, keeping its working size of 87 636 KB ... So there is no problem with the file system(s) from an OS point of view! /Anders

I have experienced the same issue with FF4/ 32bit Win7 and a network share. However the files is incomplete regardless of whether it is downloaded to a share root or subdir. Also downloaded to local drive and copying is successful. I'm using MD5 check for verification. I just tested a download from the same site with IE and it is successful.

Same here, as described by (andersnordh): Save to root of share = size OK, save to subfolder of a share = size NOT OK. The server is a Win-2008-R2 (64 bit). Now, when trying as target a share on a Win-2003-r2 (32bit), the download size is OK. Next step: try it with an 32bit client computer.

PS: See also the thread below. Steve added a link to a fix, but it will become available only in Firefox-5 ...
