My import link under file is always off, so I cannot try to import. It was on once and I tried to import going through the procedure outlined by Firefox and nothing happened.

I am on MAC OSX 10.6.7

Make sure that you not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode.
In Private Browsing mode some menu items are disabled (grayed).

  • You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
  • To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Firefox > Preferences > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
  • Uncheck: [ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"
