I can not get any bookmarks to set or save

since getting this new computer I have had to reset my bookmarks 3 times.....now I can not even get a bookmark to save. Any help or ideas would be very welcome, as I would hate to go back to IE.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
