What is this beta version?
I have been using Thunderbird for years, to complete satisfaction. Today, instead of using the taskbar, I used the desktop icon, and inadvertently (apparently) installed a beta version. I had mails redirected to folders, but these no longer exist. However, I do require some of the mails in those folders. Only inbox is shown, and it includes recent mails but also some long-deleted. I can recreate these folders but can't see any way to auto-direct. There is no help available directly within Thunderbird.
Can I have the non-beta version back, please?

Nothing there sounds right; the desktop icon invokes Thunderbird, not downloads a beta. Regardless, to resolve your issue, download the release version at https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/

This is still no good. I have managed to recall emails by reinstalling a version from 2017, (version 52.5.0), and I have to do this almost every time I look at emails. It doesn't take too long, but is irritating. Moreover, as described above, all my subfolders have disappeared if I keep the new version. (It is not visually appealing, but I suppose one can get used to that if everything else works)
I got round it by setting not to update, but got a message advising me of a security risk. Still, it's preferable to reinstalling an old version every time I want to look at my emails
