Magnify
Firefox has a magnifier in the url bar. It activates for no reason. The arrow pointer does not move but the magnifier keeps going up and down 110%- 145%- 38% all over the place. only hitting escape several times and then touching the magnifier resets it back to 100% {normal} is there a way of eliminating this feature alltogether? Any help would be appreciated.

Check that your keyboard Ctrl keys are not stuck, holding them down while scrolling will zoom the page.
You can disable this by changing mousewheel.with_control.action to -1 in about:config.

Never would have found about:config or what needed to be configured, thank you. P.S. Has nothing to do with stuck keys. Touching the touch pad and try to click on a link in a page or copy a picture and magnify went nuts. Thanks again.
