Chrome script js causes slowdown until no cpu activity shown. Requires power down to reboot. running Linux (Devuan/Refracta) Was able to capture following report:

Ok, you may have an issue, but you can not remove the scripts that are Thunderbird.

Ther4e have been some issues syncing remote calendars. Do you have those configured?

I discovered the ctrl-shift-c shortcut and it brought up the a calendar tab with the message: All calendars are currently disabled.

Any ideas?

No. But you might try enabling one of them and see if you see any error message
