All Mail removal from Thunderbird
Hi I have read many articles about Gmail accounts under Thunderbird and kind of understand how they use a single file, with labels, instead of the standard folders used by many email services. I do not want to see the Gmail section on my TB display. I had read that just 'unsubscribe' the section showing 'Gmail' and all its contents. I put my pointer on the account and look for 'unsubscribe' but it shows only 'subscribe' as a choice.
Why is Gmail section showing up? Why do I not see 'unsubscribe'? I am using TB 91.9.0 (64-bit). I have several accounts for which this is true. I use a Linux distribution (Fedora 34) which is EOL but upgrading should not be an issue for this generic issue. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated ... Robert

Hi Why is Gmail section showing up?
Because the IMAP server directory in Account settings > Server Settings > Advanced is not set to [Gmail] as shown in this advanced server setting snippet below.
{Note that case is important in the setting}

Because you are dealing with the IMAP server directory setting, not a "folder" to be subscribed to.

This is a multi-step process: - online in your Gmail account, you can specify which folders to be available at an email client. - in Thunderbird, the 'subscribe' option lets you tickmark the folds you want to subscribe to. - also, in Thunderbird, you can specifiy which folders to be available for offline use. be sure to untick there of they appear there.
By using both options, you can control/influence what Gmail information appears on Thunderbird.
Hi david Thank you for your reply to my post. I will be playing with what you have proposed and will further reply to your reply after I have played with those settings. It may take a few days for me to see what results I can get for several Gmail accounts I access through TB. I will reply as soon as I can. I have every reason to believe that I will be able to sort it out and I will get back and give my experience at that time ... Robert

Hi Matt
Your assumption is spot on. I followed your advice and it has disappeared from TB. Thanks for confirming the issues you have seen with your 91.9.0 (64 bit). I think your answer has allowed me to deal with my specific question. I will mark this question solved. :-))

Hi david
I am using your suggestions to fine tune how TB shows Gmail accounts. The specific answer from Matt ,where he confirms that he has experienced similar issues on 'Subscribe/Unsubscribe', in the right click menu for any Gmail account. That was extremely helpful to sort out my confusion. Thanks so much for your post ...
