Having much trouble with the thunderbird since last update

Ive been using thunderbird for a long time. The last time it was updated I started having issues. For one, on the left of the screen that shows the folders, the inbox showed 2 inboxes. Today it shows 3 (?). The same with the junk folder, the trash folder and the outbox folder. I haven't shown any new mail in my box for several days. When I tried to retrieve it with my password it said that Mail server pop 3.bbtel responded:authentification failed. I called my support at my phone company. Everything checked out fine with them. The problem pointed to thunderbird. Something screwy is going on and I need help to revamp this whole thing.I would like to continue with thunderbird but I need help straightening out the issues Im having.

I posted the above trouble Im having with thunderbird but haven't received any responses. What Id like to know is, can I delete this program and reload it? If i do this I'm sure I'll lose all my previous emails. Can I save them? Will doing this straighten everything out---particularly all the multiple folders that I have? Can someone offer any ideas at all??? Is there a way to delete these extra folders without deleting the whole program?

How about you post a screen shot of your folders. My initial guess is your anti virus program is the issue. But I have no knowledge of if you actually have one of when the folders actually look like.
