I just wanted to tell you I finally figured out how the account setup works I also have a question - how do I get my address book to show last name first. I had it that way but my computer crashed and I am in the process of reentering everything

In Address Book, View/Show Name As - Last, First (see picture). Press Alt if the Menu Bar with View is hidden.

Well I hope you managed it. It is about as simple as it can be made. Not allowing for external software like internet security suites which routinely mess it up.
There is currently no provision to list contacts by family name, except to manually modify the display name on each entry.
