Dears,

I would like to ask for your help. I got a very strange "white area" covering the top side in my firefox browsing. Do you know how to get back to normal? For instance, the figure should show the Google searching engine, but I can not see the field to enter the text.

Thank you in advance

This could be a problem with WebRender, so you can try to disable WebRender to see whether this has effect.

You can disable WebRender by setting this pref to true on the the about:config page.

  • gfx.webrender.force-disabled = true

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

If the above did not help;

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or it could be Hardware Acceleration. How to disable Hardware Acceleration {web link}

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All Of them.

If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.

Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is, detective.

Dear FredMcD and cor-el,

Thank you very much, now my firefox is running properly again. The problem was the WebRender. I do not know if it could be related with the Elementary OS I am running now. I was user of Linux Mint for a long time and I never had this issue, but this new distribution may cause some issues.

I checked my Addons, but I did not have any installed.

Thank you again
