I opened Thunderbird to read news and it went into some kind of initialization process. It worked fine last week! After I got through that and clicked the Newsgroups button it asks me for my newsgroup server. Unfortunately, I use three and I don't remember any of the names. On top of that I don't remember all the groups to which I subscribed. I'm sure this must be stored somewhere and can be recovered from backup. Where?

Also, every time I start Thunderbird it goes into the initialization process. How do I prevent that? I've been using this program for years and no longer remember any of this stuff if I had to do it in the fist place.

I didn't used to have a profile file, at least by the current name. Apparently it was created by a recent update. The file I used to have was a92pqppq.default. I now also have rbqOtvg.default and it seems to be missing all my newsgroup information.

I have it working, I think. I copied the contents of a92pqppq.default to rbqOtvg.default. When I opened Thunderbird my newsgroups all appeared in the correct order. I don't know if the contents are correct or not but it is a start.
