Fix for the old minimize to tray problem (reopen) ?
I reopen this issue since it has never been fixed.
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1166661 Here is the archived thread.
"It is an interesting dilemma. Give the minority the minimize to tray that they demand, or comply with the made for windows logo stuff that forced no implementation of minimize to tray."
What does "comply with the made for windows logo stuff" mean?

I don't know what they are talking aobut but you coudl try https://addons.mozilla.org/En-us/thunderbird/addon/minimizetotray-revived/
That add-on works only for Thunderbird 31.0 - 50. The current release of Thunderbird is not supported.

It means historically Microsoft required Thunderbird to not minimize to tray. That is why there was an add-on written.
but the full story can be followed here https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=208923
It is 15 years since the enhancement was requested. 8 years ago comment 90 quoted Microsoft as not recommending it. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=208923#c90
the made for Windows program I am referencing was older still probably in the last century.
