This is the fourth time in as many days I’ve experienced this issue...basically, my entire list of add-ons vanishes. Completely and totally. Every single one. Regardless of how many there were when it happens. It seems to occur upon closing the browser (not restarting my laptop [windows] like you might think). And I can’t just avoid closing the browser cuz my laptop is old and likes to crash things constantly. I’m signed into the correct account. I haven’t made any changes to options or settings of any kind recently or allowed any updates. And I’ve gone into the sync settings and unchecked the add-ons box...still deletes them all. Any other ideas of what to do to determine the cause of this problem and/or how to fix it?

If you have sync, and there is a problem anywhere, Shut Down Sync Immediately On All Devices to prevent the problem from spreading. Once the problem is fixed, perform the same repair on all computers/profiles before using sync again.

Are the add-ons totally gone, or are they reinstalling?

It’s possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.

Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Delete all extensions files and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

New files will be created when required.

After, restart Firefox.

See "Corrupt extension files":

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.
