Hi, open the Add-ons Manager (Ctrl+Shift+A) > Extensions/Plugins and look for/remove the malware.

You can also check your Firefox Desktop shortcut for corruption: Right click on it > Properties, and in Target, make sure there is no sign of anything other than firefox. If there is, delete that part of it. Or if it's easier, you can just delete it and recreate a new shortcut. More: Wrong home page opens when I start Firefox - How to fix.

Another thing you can do, is to search for the malware in your PC's search box and programs.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

• Microsoft Safety Scanner
• MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
• Anti-Rootkit Utility - TDSSKiller
• AdwCleaner (for more info, see this alternate AdwCleaner download page)
• Hitman Pro
• ESET Online Scanner

Note that not all removal programs will detect all malware, so you may need to run several or all of them.

Hello, thank you for trying to help. There is no shortcut and no malware. The problem occurs when this particular site is opened.

There is a slight possibility that the site asks for location data first (which i deny), but i don't think this is the case.

There are X tabs open. From one of these tabs the site is opened in a new tab. And then the site manages to change the sites that are loaded in the tabs that are already open. (At the very least the tabs to the left of the tab in which the site was opened.)

This seems like a security issue to me.

Same here on the other side of the pond. Google search leads to   'stuff'   that we don't want here on the support forum.

Regardless of the contents of the site, Firefox potentially has a security issue if sites can take over control of the browser.

It was safer not to mention the site, but then there wouldn't be a working example.

3-bar menu => Options => General tab => under 'Accessibility' check :   'Warn you when websites try to rediret or reload the page'.

Just to make sure : this only happens with this site and this particular URL  ?

That is only needed if you are talking about a 'bad' website.

No idea if this is the only site. Happened to encounter it with this site, while the browser seems to behave correctly for the rest.

Anyway, thank you for the suggestion. Will change the settings.

Just so we're clear,   when I said   "Google search leads to 'stuff' that we don't want here on the support forum ",   I was definately not blaming you for mentioning that site and that URL   -   you had no other choice. Besides :   that URL doesn't show any of the   'stuff'   that I found on Google,   so :   no worries.
