gmail accounts?

Yes! but not all my gmail accounts.

In the last couple of days I've seen problems with two people with respect to Gmail accounts. Gmail IMAP servers are not responding, or are responding very slowly.

For these two people, when starting Thunderbird, it asks the IMAP server for a list of the IMAP folders. Gmail doesn't respond, so Thunderbird doesn't show the full list of IMAP folders. Or it shows the folders, but takes a long time to show their content, or not at all.

I'm really hoping that Gmail is working on it. Hopefully it was an experiment they were running during the weekend that didn't work well, so they already know they need to fix things!

It turns out that I am wrong.

This issue is a bug in Thunderbird 52.2.0, and Gmail is blameless.

I didn't know this because I didn't search Bugzilla for this issue.

At this moment, there is no indication of a solution for the masses, other than reinstalling the older 51.1.1 version from here: https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/52.1.1/

I don't blame you for being upset especially when you are attempting to help users like me.

Don't give up. Remember, it is an all volunteer effort and your follow through and replies are greatly appreciated.

As long as I am not losing any of my email and it is restricted to showing in TB, and the fact it does return after exiting and re-entering TB, I am less worried. It is a hassle, for sure, but at least I can access Gmail directly if worse case.

I do hope someone fixes it soon as I rely on Tb for all my email accounts.

Stuart, How many gmail accounts do you have? How many affected? And are any gmail accounts set as the default account?

version 52.2.1 is available to fix this.
