Thunderbird forgets my sorting options for gmail account; already deleted MSFs. Cause: "flat folder tree" extension?

Every time I open Thunderbird, all of my folders have defaulted back to a sorting order that I don't like. I've already seen this thread: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=637821 and deleted all my MSF files (while Thunderbird was closed) and it didn't help, it's still forgetting my sort options on exit.

POSSIBLY UNRELATED, BUT: This seems to have started around the same time as the "flat folder tree" extension that I was using stopped working. I disabled that plugin as soon as that happened (before moving on to deleting my MSF files), so it shouldn't be a factor any more, unless my having previously used it has managed to corrupt something that even deleting MSF files wouldn't fix...

If problem goes away disabing the addon, then this likely isn't a problem that can be resolved by changing Thunderbird

The problem did not go away when I disabled the addon.

I stopped using the addon completely the day that it started acting up; I have had this problem ever since, and still have it now, even though I no longer use the addon.

Also, I'm not sure whether to make a separate thread for this or not, but starting around the same time, it seems like there is a 25% chance that one of my three gmail accounts (but always the same one) will completely lack folders on launch. Relaunching fixes this but it's very annoying. Again, maybe unrelated, but it started at the same time so I figured I'd mention it.

(However, all three of my accounts lose their sorting options, not just the one that sometimes disappears completely.)

OK, I'm back with more information, AND a change in the symptoms too...

First: All three of my accounts are now randomly disappearing on launch, like the andrew.fraticelli account was in my previous screenshot. On one launch, ALL THREE accounts were empty -- the 'email address' entries were still there, but with no folders inside them, not even 'inbox'. This still randomly changes on every single launch.

Second: I just learned about the 'activity manager' window, and I checked -- it contains a bunch of messages whenever I launch! Mostly messages about deleting folders, but also sometimes, messages about unknown commands. (I've attached some examples.) The unknown commands don't seem to have anything to do with which folders are missing, though; and you can see in one of them, that the mail for my omgitsraven account is still being fetched even though it thinks that omgitsraven doesn't have an inbox!

Third: Just now, while I was taking these screenshots, it actually completely crashed on launch! I filed a crash report linking this thread, if that makes it easier to find.

OK, what you describe is this problem we are seeing affecting some gmail users with 52.2.0. I will pass the information on.

Just launched three times in a row (to test): no missing folders, no deleted folders in my activity manager, all my sort options are saved. Thanks!
