HELP! I have Windows 7 - 64bit PC and I have a subscription with Videoblocks.com and Mozilla Fire Fox is my default browser I have used for years. When I go to the Videoblocks website, Mozilla Firefox will NOT allow me to SEARCH for videos I wish to download. As soon as I type in the Search box there and hit enter, my computer freezes up and in the lower right hand corner of the screen it always says, "Readd2zah9y47r7bi2.clearfront.net" "Readd2zah9y47r7bi2.cloudfront.net". After that, if I touch anywhere on the screen, the screen turns to white and then my mouse starts twirling. You have to exit out and then you get error messages and you have to exit out of that until you're completely out of it. I have the newest update of Firefox. I have WebrootSecureAnywhere and it did not detect that anything is wrong. For trouble shooting (1) I have cleared out all of my history, (2) I did a Firefox refresh (3) I've uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox numerous times, (4) I've done a system restore several times all to no avail. I tried this on my husband's computer and it does the same exact thing so it's not just my computer. I have no viruses on my computer nor does he. I use Firefox all the time for this endeavor as I am a video producer and then all of a sudden it started doing this; it's like this simple feature is now broken! I even called Videoblocks and Webroot and they had no answers for me. PLEASE HELP!! This is very disconcerting! How do I fix this please?

DebbieWhitmer here: Correction from my message above. I meant to say "CLOUDFRONT.NET". The problem should have read: "Readd2zah9y47r7bi2.CLOUDFRONT.NET". Sorry about that.

If you get a pop-up message asking to update Firefox or plugins or scanning for malware then such a message is likely a scam and you should never respond to such an alert to avoid getting infected with malware.

  • Only update Firefox via "Help > About" or by downloading and installing Firefox from the Mozilla server and never via a pop-up or link on a web page.
  • plugins should only be updated via the plugin itself or by visiting the home page of the plugin.

Thank you cor-el. However, HOW do I get rid of this? I was told by the technicians at WebrootSecurityAnywhere that "cloudfront.net" is a hosting service provided by Amazon for data storage and that this was not malware (which I thought it was too) and that my computer has not been harmed. Mozilla Firefox works fine everywhere else except in the "search box" on Videoblocks.com and then freezes up my computer as stated above in my original message--a very basic function. But in any event, my question still remains, anyone, HOW do I get rid of this?

Thank you.

Firefox can't find the server at www.cloudfront.net

But when I try cloudfront.com I am redirected to; https://aws.amazon.com/cloudfront/

Amazon CloudFront – Content Delivery Network (CDN)

Amazon CloudFront is a global content delivery network (CDN) service that accelerates delivery of your websites, APIs, video content or other web assets. It integrates with other Amazon Web Services products to give developers and businesses an easy way to accelerate content to end users with no minimum usage commitments.

Cor-el - I want to thank you for your post and giving me the links you provided. I downloaded everything and did everything it told me to do including doing a Mozilla FireFox Reset AGAIN, and this did not solve my problem. When I go to videoblocks.com and just attempt to put in a search ..for example, the word "White House" in their search box so I can bring up a thumbnail of videos of the "White House" to search for my projects, it still does the same exact thing. In the lower right hand corner of the screen it still says ".....cloudfront.net" and causes my computer to freeze and then when you touch anywhere on the screen, it turns all white and then I get the twirling mouse. I have to exit out with a few error message windows that pop up and then I'm out of it. This is so bizarre how all of a sudden in one day it started doing this when this had not been a problem at all in the past; it's such a basic function. It's not only perplexing but I still do not have a fix for this. sigh....

Correction.... I meant to say, "In the lower LEFT-HAND corner of the screen."...really makes no difference at this point as it still does not work. It does the same thing on my husband's computer too so this is doing this to two different computers so it's just not mine.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen or hold down the Shift key) to see if that has effect.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.
