I can't setup Thunderbird on my laptop as I forget my password
My monitor is being under repair so I have to use my laptop. I setup Thunderbird but can't finalize as my password is not accepted. I don't want to setup another account with another password just for that. What do I have to do?

I changed my password yesterday successfully but this morning I still can't finalize the setup.
Try disabling your anti virus from doing email scanning. Some products, Norton get a regular mention from me, have a habit of messing with the setup wizard and the result is a password error message.
Note that if you are using Norton that they can not scan SSL/TLS secured mail and Telstra require it. So turning off their email scanner permanently will speed things without an loss of security.
I have a free Avast on the laptop, I changed my password successfully again just to try if it will work with this new one but to no avail. I bought a new monitor so I can get back to the computer again as I receive most of my bills in the email. If I'm lucky might I get it this week but it will come probably next week, I spent 350 dollar on the new monitor because the password.
You mention Avast.
Is it possible that AVAST Firewall is blocking Thunderbird? Please read info and make sure Thunderbird is an allowed trusted program.
