insert images in an email
When using Thunderbird to write an email, I want to select an image from my desktop and insert it in any place of the text (not as an attachment), and then be able to resize it and move it. I can't fin that option in Thunderbird.

You need to be composing using HTML and it helps to have the Menu bar in the composition window enabled. When this is done, you'll have a Menu with an "Insert" option.
If you're using HTML you can also copy and paste images into the text, and I think you may also be able to drag and drop an image or a file. Hence you can do it without the Menu.
Double click on an inserted image should bring up its Properties editor where you can tweak it. But if you have a really big picture, it's best to create a copy of an appropriate size rather than just adjust its dimensions. There is an Auto Adjust Image addon that will do this automatically.

Thank you Zenos, but when composing a message using Mozilla Thunderbird, I can't find the option to do it using HTML.
It's in Account Settings.
Tools|Account Settings|{select account}|Composition & Addressing
There is a checkbox labelled "Compose messages in HTML format". You need to set this individually for each of your accounts.
In most case, regardless of whether you have ticked this or not, you can temporarily switch to the alternative format (i.e. HTML vs plain text) by holding down shift whilst clicking Write, Reply, Forward, Edit As New etc.
