ihave a new requiremant to enter a password before thunderbird will give me new emails. I used dialog boxes to make an new password but no luck

Sometimes a mail server will "forget" user credentials. They may also have changed log in method. If you are sure you are using the correct username/password you should contact the provider for reasons your credentials are not working.
