The system I support is giving the errors: java.lang.SecurityException: illegal URL redirect and com.sun.deploy.net.FailedDownloadException: Unable to load resource

This only happens in Firefox, I have tried in I.E. and Chrome and no errors seem to happen.

Please note this used to work in Firefox before, however it seems something has changed on the securities as it stopped working a few weeks ago.

Please update your plugins to the latest version. Check to make sure you are up to date:

A few weeks ago Java has an update, I would check that first.

Hi guigs,

Thank you for your suggestion. The plugins are updated, however the error still occurs. There is a new message that appears though: "security: Reset deny session certificate store"

Do you have any other pointers as of what should be checked next?

Thanks!

I typed in "FailedDownloadException" to the duckduckgo search engine and the first result shown, a link to the stackoverflow web site appears to minic your situation. Try it. If good, return here. If not, return here anyway and hopefully more help will be offered.

Hi Cliffontheroad,

I tried your suggestion. Unfortunately the applet is not created by myself so I cannot modify it. So, the problem still remains...

I have tried: - Adding the site to the exception list - Certificate is good and signed - Downloaded the newer plugins - Cleared the cache - Changed from use browser settings to Direct Connection

All the above with no luck. Still the applet works for the app when running in I.E, but not in FireFox. Are there any other specific Firefox settings that somehow are blocking the applet from working?

I'm sorry I can not be of more help. I hope I have not offended Guigs by trying. When there is a "redirect" I always worry, but that's because the Internet is a lot more complex than I could ever understand. Maybe your new error message is something to explore. Aside; when I start changing internals, I like to keep a notebook, just so I can put things back if needed.

No, but I did a little more research. It may be an application has blocked it from running. Do either of you have an antivirus or a security application on the affected computers?

I would also be wary of redirects, though some are just to get to the right spot or preventing external linking from breaking.

There is also apparently a security setting in the Java Control Center, see if its blocking itself: https://www.java.com/en/download/help/jcp_security.xml
