AdFender prevents connection to Gmail IMAP (solution)

Hi, you may want to add this to your knowledge base.

Problem: Mozilla Thunderbird 45.2.0 unable to connect to gmail accounts using IMAP.

Workaround: Disabled Filtering in AdFender Pro 2.26

Solution: In AdFender->Open Main Console->Advanced->Manage exclusion list... Exclude Host popup. Add. www.googleapis.com

Also note that AdFender prevented initial setup of Thunderbird as well. Thunderbird could not connect to the DB.

Hope this saves someone else several hours of troubleshooting.

This sound very much like an issue with the Adfender software and not with Thunderbird. I recommend that you get in contact with Adfender about this issue so that they can provide further guidance and/or possibly alter their product.
