Can Firefox be optimized for use with slow conections?
I can only get online at home through my phone, and I only have 7gb of 4G data to tether with, then it drops to 128kbs. Is there anything I can do with Firefox to improve browsing speed?

The 'trick' is to get desktop Firefox to use less data all the time, rather than to hit your 7GB 'cap' and have your account 'throttled back' to 128kbps. Once the 'throttle' kicks in, you're 'capped' at the connection until the end of the billing period and the 'cap' is removed.
First thing to do is to install an 'adblocker' and various filtersets. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/
Then make sure that you enable "Social Blocking" to block unwanted connections (and data) from the various social networking websites.
Further support for uBlockOrigin can be obtained here: https://discourse.mozilla-community.org/t/support-ublock-origin/6746
