How can I restore previous session when no previous versions are found??

more options

I exed out of my session by mistake, earlier in the day, and it had many, many saved tabs that I need. Tried the process of going into the Profiles folder and locating the.BAK file and renaming, but there's nothing there to work with that I can see. Then I right-click on files, go into Properties, and check their Previous Version(s), and, again, nothing. Help would be appreciated. It was just a simple mistake and yet Firefox can not restore it?

Firefox uses the sessionstore.js file in the profile folder to store session data, but this file is only present when Firefox is closed. The sessionstore.js file is created from recovery.js when you close Firefox and is removed and copied to previous.js when you start Firefox to make is possible to restore the session at any time.

Backup the session files in the sessionstore-backups folder in the Firefox Profile Folder to make sure not to lose possible important session data. Do NOT close Firefox when Firefox is already running.

You will normally find these files in the sessionstore-backups folder:

previous.js (cleanBackup: copy of sessionstore.js from previous session that was loaded successfully)
recovery.js (latest version of the sessionstore written during runtime)
recovery.bak (previous version of the sessionstore written during runtime)
upgrade.js-<build_id> (backup created during an upgrade of Firefox)

You can copy a file from the sessionstore-backups folder to the main profile and rename the file to sessionstore.js to replace the current file (make a backup copy of the current sessionstore.js).

Sorry, doesn't help at all...I can't find anything I am looking for. Has this "improved" session restore system ruined my chances of finding anything I need? Is there any way to do a more in-depth search of my old session restores? All the pages are in my history, so that memory of it is still there....it's just a select amount of pages [out of all those] that I kept up as tabs. Can anyone help me locate this older session from earlier in the day? I can't find anything.

Firefox only remembers the immediately previous session. If you have not yet closed and re-opened Firefox, go to the History menu and look for Restore Previous Session. Then check the History menu for closed windows and, in each window, closed tabs.

If you can't find the previous session that way, most likely it is gone.

If you had the tabs open for a long time, possibly one of the upgrade.js files has them, or some of them.

I realize this advice comes too late for your current problem, but going forward, you could set Firefox to restore your previous session automatically. If you want to try that, see: Startup, home page, tabs, and download settings.
