I opened firefox and was asked to select a profile - i selected default and everything i've done or visited in the past 2 years has vanished
i have never been asked to select a profile - I couldnt find my history and hit "back up" to "may 27" which I thought was a couple days ago, but looks like it was 2013. prior to doing this the only history that was showing was 6 months old or older. not sure what happened - if the "default" profile was an older version and not the current profile I was operating under or if there was some other glitch. is there anyway to get the bookmarks and data from my more recent history back?

HI bweetersm, It sounds like it was the Profile Manager that opened up when you started Firefox. Before I suggest anything, is there any information that is in the other profile that looks more familiar/recent?
To select the other profile start Firefox with the Profile Manager again with these instructions:
Try to open the Profile Manager and select the other profile if you have more than one listed.

It is also possible that you have reset Firefox and created a new profile. In that case you would find an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop.
When you reset/refresh Firefox then a new profile is created and some personal data (bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, form data) is automatically imported. The current profile folder will be moved to an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop. Installed extensions and other customizations (toolbars, prefs) that you have made are lost and need to be redone.
It is possible to recover data from the old profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
