Hello everyone

Before I describe my problem I give some informations about my Laptop and Firefox.

I use a MacBook Pro OS X Yosemite Version 10.10 (which I upgraded about 3-4 weeks from OS X Maverick to Yosemite) and Firefox 33.1 (according to "about firefox" up to date).

After the upgrade from Maverick to Yosemite the keyboard shortcuts don't work anymore. With Maverick the shortcuts worked perfectly. When I press for example "cmd" and "f" the "Edit"-register turns blue like there is a process starting, but nothing happens. No shortcut works since the upgrade.

I'm 100% sure that I press the right keys, I checked it several times! :-) and also my keyboard works faultless - no damaged key..

Thanks for your help in advance

Greetings CKoch

Try to remove the Firefox plist file (org.mozilla.firefox.plist).

Go to "~/Library/Preferences" and remove the plist file for Firefox (org.mozilla.firefox.plist)

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Thank you very much cor-el for your answer!

I've found another solution too! It's a Mac-specific problem.. When you also have got the problem in safari and other programms it's because you have to many languages in system preferences/ languages and regions! I had swiss german, german and english.. I deleted english and german and than it worked perfectly.
