All I know is they were there when I signed off one evening and the next morning when I signed on, they were gone. All of the downloads are gone but they are stored in my downloads folder so that won't be a problem, but I'd still like to know how they went "poof". My history is missing from February (when I started using FireFox) through July 10. On July 11, it starts showing up again. I use the history frequently & need to recover it if possible. Any assistance you provide will be much appreciated.

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.

Hi Sandi, one way your history might be cleared is if Firefox's Reset feature ran. Typically this creates a folder on your desktop named Old Firefox Data. Do you have that folder?

If so, it might be possible to resurrect your old history database. Problem is, it can't be merged with the current one, so you might only keep it for reference, or perhaps try to extract it with a utility program that can export the file contents.

If you don't have that folder, you could try using the "Previous Versions" feature in newer versions of Windows to extract the history database from a restore point. This may or may not work, and again, would only be for reference. What version of Windows do you run?
